Paediatric First Aid certificate

Please check when your Paediatric First Aid certificate expires – 3 years seems to pass very quickly. Check the training calendar for the next dates available.

Safeguarding level one training

Safeguarding level one training must also be completed every 3 years – ask your locality lead for a link to free online training.

Public Liability Insurance

Please check that your Public Liability Insurance has been renewed too. This and both courses above must be in place even if no children are attending your setting

Employer’s liability insurance

If you have an assistant, please make sure that you have employer’s liability insurance in place.

Early Years Foundations Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework

Department for Education DfE website

The Department for Education DfE have developed a new website to support early years providers. It has lots of great ideas. You can also sign up to this site for alerts: Help for early years providers - Department for Education

Supporting learning and development

Practice talking about your children’s progress and how you have supported their learning and development.

The inspector will observe your interactions with children and will be especially interested in how you help them learn new words and how you support their communication development.

DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) checks

Please remember that these need to be completed for anyone over 16 years of age living or working on your premises including your own children over 16, for example, lodgers, partners, assistants, elderly parents. Remember to notify Ofsted when someone new moves in or you change address.
