Resident parking charges
We are proposing further emissions-based charges. A consultation will commence from 26 January 2024 until 23 February 2024 on our proposals to make changes to our parking charges. This includes:
- Introducing Emissions to Doctors, Teachers, Business-all zone, Business-single zone and Motorcycle Resident Permits
- Introducing Diesel Surcharge to Euro 6 Compliant vehicles for all permit types
- Introducing a multi-permit surcharge of £75 to resident permits

Price structure for resident permit 24/25
The cost of a parking permit depends on the emissions the vehicle produces (CO2 g/km) or the engine size (CC) of your vehicle.
If your vehicle was registered:
- before 1 March 2001, the band your vehicle falls into will be determined by engine size.
- after 1 March 2001, the band your vehicle falls into will be determined by emissions (i.e.CO2g/km)
- after 1 March 2001 and your vehicle emissions cannot be found, the band your vehicle falls into will be determined by engine size
These prices are not inclusive of the diesel surcharge.

Diesel surcharge
A diesel surcharge will be applied to diesel-fuelled vehicles that are non-compliant with Euro 6 Emission standards. The surcharge is in addition to our standard residents' permit charges.
Most Diesel vehicle registered after the 1 September 2015 are compliant with Euro 6 Emission standards and will not be liable for the surcharge.
