A naming ceremony:
This secular ceremony is designed as an alternative to a religious celebration, and whilst it has no legal standing, it creates a special event at which to gather family and friends.
You may choose to personalise the ceremony by including a reading of verse or a suitable piece of prose. Please note, however, that due to legal constraints, the piece must have no religious content and must be approved at least seven days prior to your ceremony.
The ceremony will last approximately 20-30 minutes and is delivered by a member of the Lambeth registration staff. A commemorative certificate will be presented to mark the event.
Any parent, legal guardian or person with parental responsibility of the child may organise a naming ceremony. You can choose to hold it at our Register Office, any one of our licensed venues in Lambeth, or at one of our rooms within the Town Hall. A fee is payable for this service.
All fees include VAT at 20%
For Naming Ceremonies in tThe Olive Morris Suite (38 guests), The Pauline Room (20 guests) and The David Bowie Room (10 guests), or in a Licensed venue please see the prices.
For licensed venues, there will be additional charges for the hire of the venue.
Fees are subject to change on the 1 April each year. You will be required to pay the fee that is applicable for the date of your ceremony. All ceremony fees are payable in full at the time of booking.
