Voting by post and proxy

Voting by post means we will send you a posting voting pack so you can complete your ballot paper at home and return it in the post when elections take place.

Voting by proxy means someone you trust voting on your behalf.

First mailing of postal votes

For existing postal voters or those whose application for a postal vote we receive by Wednesday 29 May.

Friday 14 June

Second mailing of postal votes

For postal vote applications we receive by Friday 7 June.

Monday 17 June

Third mailing of postal votes

For postal vote applications we receive by Wednesday 12 June.

Wednesday 19 June

Final mailing of postal votes

For postal vote applications we receive between Thursday 12 June and 5pm on Wednesday 19 June (the postal vote application deadline for these elections).

Monday 24 June

The deadline for receiving new postal and postal proxy voting applications and for making changes to existing postal and proxy votes for the UK Parliamentary General Election was 5pm on Wednesday 19 June. 

The deadline for receiving new proxy voting applications (not postal proxy or emergency proxies) for the UK Parliamentary General Election was 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.

Emergency proxy voting 

The standard proxy voting deadline has now passed, but you may be able to vote by emergency proxy.

In certain circumstances, where you have an emergency that means you can't vote in person, you can apply for an emergency proxy on the following grounds:

  • Medical grounds 
  • Employment grounds
  • Your photo ID is lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged after the deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate has passed
  • You have nominated a proxy to vote on your behalf, and their photo ID is lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged after the deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate has passed

To qualify, the emergency must be something that you weren’t aware of before the normal proxy deadline, which was 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.
