The aim of the Translation and interpretation policy is to detail a coordinated, considered and responsive strategic framework for the operational delivery of translation and interpretation services across the council.
The translation and interpretation policy is designed to ensure that:
- all residents and customers are able to access council services whilst balancing the needs and legal requirements for translating against the associated costs
- the council provides appropriate and high quality translation and interpretation services, including British Sign Language and other forms and formats of communication
- gaps in service outcomes experienced by residents who require translation or interpretation and those who do not are narrowed.
