Our Planning team assess planning applications and other consents such as listed building consent. The team does not offer planning advice by phone, though our call centre will be able to direct you to online guidance on many planning matters and take payments for applications. We provide online guidance on the need for planning permission and a paid pre-application advice service.

Building Control

Our Building Control team assess your building regulations applications. They offer advice on what type of building regulation application you should submit and are also the team to contact if you are concerned about dangerous structures within the borough.

Planning Policy

Our Planning Policy team create the local policies that are used to make decisions on planning applications. They are responsible for the local plan and other policy documents.

Neighbourhood Planning

Our Planning Policy team provide assistance to communities that wish to develop a neighbourhood plan.

Planning Appeals

If you are an applicant wanting to appeal our planning decision or enforcement notice you should contact the planning inspectorate. If you are a third party interested in a particular appeal you can follow its progress and, where the type of appeal allows, make representations on the Planning Inspectorate’s Planning Casework Portal.

Planning Enforcement

Our Planning Enforcement team are responsible for investigating and prosecuting breaches of planning control. If you want to report a breach of planning control, for example building works taking place without permission, we recommend you use our online reporting form.

Infrastructure Coordination Development Service

We offer a dedicated Infrastructure Coordination service, which is specifically targeted at supporting new development. The service can be instrumental in the early stages of a project in eliminating major project risks and identifying key opportunities.
