How a CPZ works

How a CPZ works

Within a CPZ you will find several different types of parking restrictions. The controlled hours for single yellow lines will be displayed on the CPZ sign as you enter the zone. However, on some streets the controlled hours may vary so you must always check the time plate for the parking bay you have left your vehicle in. If yellow line restrictions apply at different times to the zone times, the different times are shown on separate time plates near the area of road that is affected.

In general, you are not allowed to park on single yellow lines between 8.30am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday (unless additional time plates at the location state otherwise). Double yellow lines are controlled 24 hours a day.

The controlled hours for parking bays, such as residents' parking bays, can be found on the signs within the bay. The first letter stands for the controlled zone and the 'R' stands for resident, for example, BR is Brixton Resident.
