Trees planted in Lambeth / Clapham Common Ward over the last 4 years

24 March 2022

Your request

I would like to know how many street trees have been planted in Lambeth over the past 4 years (ideally broken down by year) and also how many street trees have been removed or part removed (quite often the stump remains) over the same period, for whatever reason (disease, damage to pavement or property etc).

If the data is available I would like the same information for the current Clapham Common Ward (and if such information is not readily available for the nearest equivalent eg SW4)

Our response

The attached spreadsheet provides details of trees planted, felled in the Borough, felled in Clapham Common Ward and planted in Clapham Common Ward.

Please note that the increase in the number of fells is due to a more proactive inspection regime, which has highlighted H&S issues on trees requiring their removal, particularly important this year given the stormy weather. This figure should fall over time as the proactive inspection regime stops unnecessary works that over time cause H&S issues. We are working on a new tree planting strategy that will give us a better framework going forward as we deliver on our commitments contained with the borough's Climate Action Plan.
