Downsizing and moving tenants

2 September 2022

Your requests

  • I would like to know how many council tenants in the Lambeth Borough have requested to downsize their property in the past 10 years.

We only hold data going back to November 2013, which is when our current housing allocation scheme was introduced.

Tenants don't have to formerly request to downsize.  Tenants who are eligible to bid for a property smaller than their current home are automatically awarded Band A priority.

There are currently 1,714 transfer applicants in this category. However, they are not all actively seeking to move somewhere smaller.  There are currently 224 people eligible to bid for a smaller property with Band A priority who have placed a bid in the last 12 months.

2. how many tenants the council have moved based on the above request.

From 1/12/13 to 1/1/21 a total of 511 have transferred to a smaller property.
