Lambeth Disrepair Arbitration Scheme

A guide for tenants and leaseholders on how to apply for the scheme and resolve a disrepair.

Who is the scheme for

The scheme is for tenants and leaseholders who want to make a claim against Lambeth Council because of unresolved repairs issues.

It is aimed at residents who have already been through the council’s complaints procedure, or who have already engaged a solicitor.

The types of issues covered are:

  • damp and mould
  • water leaks
  • structural defects
  • communal reapirs
  • pest issues
  • electrics
  • heating and hot water
  • any landlord repairs outlined in the repair’s handbook

It’s optional to use the scheme but if you are offered use of it and decide to go to court anyway, you may need to explain to the judge why you didn’t try arbitration.
