Come and see our latest exhibition at Lambeth Archives showcasing the work of Brixton-based Queer textile artist Scorpio (b. 1968). Featuring a series of autobiographical wall hangings and quilts using fabrics, embroidery, appliqué and found items. These artworks chart a personal journey of self-discovery from the West Country to London. Scorpio’s career took off in the early 1990s art scene, creating one off fashion items of fashion and art, incorporating recycling materials, notably for ‘No logo’ fashion label and has designed costumes for raves at the Brixton Academy.
Scorpio campaigns for LGBTQ+ equal rights and had initially joined the Manchester based Homocult, a collective founded in 1992.
