Join Suzanne Raine and Muriel Zagha for a lively and engaging discussion inspired by their podcast Garlic & Pearls, in which they tour French and British culture in 1,000 things, ideas and scents – from absinthe to tweed, from hedgerows to French school food. What insights have they gained? And what’s it like to make a podcast?

Muriel Zagha is a French cultural journalist who grew up in Paris. She specialises in film and French culture. Her work has featured in The Times Literary Supplement, The Spectator, Apollo and The Guardian, and she regularly appears as a commentator on the BBC and on Times Radio.

Suzanne Raine is a Visiting Professor at King’s College London, and a Trustee at the Imperial War Museum and the Royal United Services Institute. She teaches and writes on risk anticipation and warning, and on geopolitics. She worked in the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office for 24 years until 2019.

This event is organised with the Friends of Durning Library. Refreshments available (donation £3 suggested).
