Celestine Obiora Agbo started life in the compounds of Enugu State, Nigeria. The Biafran Civil war fast hurtled his family into the raw reality of starvation and mortality. He sat down to share his story during the late summer of 2007 and this novel is the product of that exploration.
Set in Nigeria in 1967, the Biafran War arrives one night for young Obi and his two sisters when they find themselves alone, separated from relatives and evacuated headlong into war and starvation. Meanwhile in London, against the warnings of the Foreign Office, their mother plans an audacious rescue mission to the front line, embarking on a deadly journey amid the bombings and desperation, to find and bring her children to England and safety.
