In April 1999 the Black, Asian and LGBTQ+ communities of Brixton, Brick Lane and Soho were targeted by nail bomb attacks over fourteen days.
- The first bomb targeted the Black community of Brixton on Saturday 17 April, it exploded at the side of the Iceland Store in Brixton, on Electric Avenue.
- The second nail bomb targeted the Asian community. It exploded in the boot of a car outside the Sweet and Spicy Restaurant, 40 Brick Lane on 24 April.
- The third bomb was aimed at the LGBTQ+ community. It exploded in the Admiral Duncan bar, Old Compton Street, on Friday 30 April.
Since April 2010, the anti-hate crime charity 17-24-30 National HCAW has organised annual April Acts of Remembrance on all three dates.
