About the proposals
Last year, the Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) started a review of Lambeth council’s electoral wards. The process is designed to make sure that the wards are as fair as possible in terms of representation. The LGBCE wants to make sure councillors will represent about the same number of electors, and that ward arrangements will help the council work effectively.
Following a first-stage consultation with Lambeth residents, community groups and organisations and the voluntary sector in the borough, the LGBCE has drawn up proposals which make changes to the current electoral wards. It is proposing that there should be 26 wards and 1-3 councillors per ward. All wards will change.
Proposed changes include:
- Creation of a new South Bank & Waterloo ward to address the over representation in the existing Bishop's ward
- Significantly different new wards across the whole borough

Working with the LGBCE, Lambeth council now wants to hear the views and comments of residents, businesses and community groups on these proposals. We would like to invite you to attend a special consultation event at which the current proposals will be outlined, so that comments and feedback can be gathered.

How to respond to the consultation
The Commission has a dedicated section on its website where people can see the detail of the proposals and comment on the names of wards, their boundaries and the number of councillors per ward.
