Rush Common Bee Road

In spring 2024, we are creating 450 square metres of wildflower meadow at the northern tip of Rush Common, opposite Baytree Road. This involves removing the grass turf and seeding wildflowers into a low-fertility substrate. The area will be netted and covered with germination fleece until seedlings have established. After this, the meadow will be managed with an annual cut and removal of clippings in the autumn.

We’d like to thank the many local residents, volunteers and pupils from Corpus Christi School who helped to plant plug plants and bulbs into grass near the new meadow. Flowers to watch out for this summer will include colourful and pollinator-friendly species such as red campion, foxgloves, honesty and cow parsley.
