During spring 2024 a new wildflower corridor was created using a grass verge which runs along the eastern side of Wellfield Walk, a public right of way which runs between Springwell Road and Valley Road in Streatham. The verge was de-turfed and a mixture of annuals and low-growing perennial wildflowers seeded into a layer of low-fertility substrate. The verges were netted and covered with a germination fleece to protect the ground and provided optimum conditions for germination, especially warmth and moisture. The wildflower verges will be cut at the end of the summer and grass clippings removed.

Wildflowers to look out for include, in the first year, cornfield annuals such as corn poppies, cornflower, corn marigold, and then in successive years perennial wildflowers such as wild carrot, ox-eye daisy, field scabious, greater and lesser knapweeds, meadow cranesbill, tufted vetch, selfheal, and birds foot trefoil.
