Using Lambeth social media and community websites

We have a range of ways for you to find out what is happening in Lambeth.

Main Lambeth Council social media accounts

The main council social media channels are looked after by the policy and communications team.

We aim to use these channels to help you to keep up-to-date with what is happening in the borough and look forward to seeing your views and feedback. We will also help with questions where we can.

Community guidelines

We have created our community rules to keep our accounts safe, inclusive, and to encourage a positive online experience for all.

At Lambeth Council, we value everyone’s right to freedom of expression in our digital spaces. However, we urge everyone to remain respectful. Our aim is to create a safe, open, and inclusive online environment, free from trolls, spammers, or bullies. Here, all individuals are encouraged to share their opinions freely, contributing to a friendly and vibrant online community.

We want our social media accounts to be engaging, interesting, and informative spaces where people can discover more about our borough, where we welcome comments and engagement.

We will take immediate action if any content (including comments, videos, images, GIFs, attachments, links and emojis) is found to be:

  • Defamatory, slanderous, misleading or false
  • Abusive or threatening
  • Inciting hate crime or using hate crime language
  • Intimidatory towards our staff or other platform users
  • Discriminatory in any manner
  • Obscene, profane or sexually explicit
  • Offensive, targeting individuals or groups based on gender, age, sexual orientation, race, culture, religion, or disability
  • Promoting illegal activity
  • The same message posted multiple times, otherwise known as 'spamming'
  • Promoting individual products or services
  • In breach of copyright law, the Human Rights Act, the Data Protection Act or other similar legislation

If we see any content that violates our community guidelines, we reserve the right to remove it. If we find that an individual or organisation has broken our house rules more than three times, we will give them a fair warning and consider muting these accounts.  We would like to highlight that we see muting as a last resort and will do anything in our power to avoid it.

Responding to Twitter queries and Facebook posts

  • We will do our best to respond to questions on Facebook and Twitter within one working day.
  • We are less able to respond to queries on Instagram, Nextdoor or Whatsapp. It is better to DM us on Twitter/X or visit our website
  • We will help you, or direct you to departments or online information, where possible.
  • Our working hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. We will answer questions sent outside of these times when working hours resume.

Please note, while we will help to direct you to more information where possible, if you want to know about a specific policy you can also contact the relevant departmentCabinet Member or your local councillors.
